Small English Art Deco Cellarette of Beautiful Quilted & Crown-Cut Walnut, Circa 1930’s…
This gorgeous cocktail cabinet features beautiful European bookmatched quilted & crown-cut walnut veneers over a rich flame mahogany and includes a cedar backing & bottom. Note how the veneers flow from the top of the cabinet in a seamless manner and cascade down in continuous & intriguing patterns… Incredible artisanship! When the drop-down door is lowered, the top pops-up and the original light fixture which has been rewired for American circuit automatically illuminates. The bar service is lined in flame mahogany and includes the original reverse-painted mirrors with stylized bar scene on the back & drop-down door (cocktail shaker – martini glasses with olives – bubbles – stars – starbursts) and a clear mirror on the bottom. Please note that the mirrors on the bottom & drop-down door do have some minor blemishes due to years of liquor spillage by the often ‘tipsy’ British owner, but it’s hardly noticeable. Six original multicolored bakelite martini picks & a chrome juicer are also retained on the pop-up panel. The bottom storage compartment is lined in the same rich flame mahogany and accessed by two double doors with no lock. Inside, there is a small wooden shelf and ample room for plenty of large bottles & barware. On the back of this wonderful little cabinet is a small white bakelite label with the manufacturer’s name… C.W.S. LTD., London Cabinet Factory, Enfield.
