Cellarette of Stunning Crown-Cut Walnut with Triple Mechanism
English Art Deco Cellarette of Stunning Burl
& Crown-Cut Walnut with Fantastic Triple
Mechanism, Circa 1930's...
This incredible Cellarette is crafted of stunning
European book-matched burl, crown-cut & quilted walnut veneers over rich mahogany that also includes external brass accent
trim and a cedar backing & bottom. Note how the veneers flow from the top of the cabinet in a seamless manner and
cascade down in continuous & intriguing patterns... Incredible artisanship! (What strange images do you
see within these veneer patterns?) Of special note is the rare triple mechanism utilized on this cabinet... When
the drop-down door is lowered via a Deco inspired brass pull the top pops-up, the original light fixture which has been rewired
for American circuit automatically illuminates and the entire bar service moves forward! The bar service is lined in
a flame mahogany and includes a stainless juicer & six original bakelite/metal martini picks attached to the pop-up panel.
A clear mirror is utilized on the bottom but the original reverse-painted gold striped mirror is featured on the drop-down
door as well as the original reverse-painted mirror with a gold stylized bar scene (martini glasses / shaker / bubbles
/ stars / starbursts) on the back. Another unusual feature of this beautiful bar is the polished copper
trim & accents utilized throughout. (Brass is typical but not copper.) The spacious bottom storage compartment
is lined in flame mahogany, includes a wooden shelf and is accessed via double doors that can be locked with the original
barrel key and have three copper bottle clips attached to the back of each.
