Fantastic Triple
Mechanism, Circa 1930's...
This spectacular Cellarette is crafted of
fabulous European book-matched burl, crown-cut & quilted walnut veneers over flame mahogany and includes a cedar backing
& bottom. Note how the veneers flow from the top of the cabinet in a seamless manner & cascade down in continuous
& intriguing patterns... Incredible artisanship! (What strange images do you see within these veneer patterns?)
Of special note is the rare triple mechanism utilized on this cabinet... When the drop-down door
is lowered via a gorgeous Deco inspired brass pull the top pops-up, the original light fixture which has been rewired for
American circuit automatically illuminates and the entire bar service moves forward! The bar service is lined in rich
flame mahogany, includes the original chrome juicer & six red bakelite/metal martini picks attached to the pop-up panel,
features the original reverse-painted & gold striped mirrors on the bottom & drop-down door and the original reverse-painted
mirror with a gold stylized bar scene (martini glasses / shaker / corkscrew / picks / bubbles / stars / starbursts) on
the back. Another unusual feature of this beautiful bar is the polished copper trim & accents utilized throughout.
(Brass is typical but not copper.) The spacious bottom storage compartment provides ample room for plenty of bottles
& barware, is lined in the same flame mahogany, features a removable wooden center shelf and is accessed via beautiful
double doors that can be locked with their original barrel key and include two copper bottle clips attached to the back of
each. The manufacturer's white bakelite label, Rivington of London, is still attached to the back of the right
door.
