This fantastic Cellarette is crafted of gorgeous European book-matched burl, crown-cut & quilted walnut veneers over rich mahogany and with a backing & bottom of maple. Note how the veneers flow from the top of the cabinet in a seamless manner and cascade down in continuous & intriquing patterns... Absolutely incredible artisanship! However, the most fascinating feature of this Bar is the fabulous exterior lighting... Along the center & installed vertically the entire height of the bottom storage compartment is a curved & opaque white plastic lens with light behind. This original light fixture has been rewired for American circuit and illuminates via a push-button switch mounted just inside and at the top right of the storage compartment. The soft & sexy glow produced in a dark or dimly lighted room really makes this piece stand-out! The bar service is lined in a beautiful golden sycamore, features an original reverse-painted mirror on the back with a stylized bar scene (martini glasses - shakers - bubbles - stars - starbursts), the original reverse-painted gold striped mirror along the bottom, a clear mirror on the drop-down door, six original bakelite martini picks and the original chrome juicer. What's even more amazing are the special bar mechanisms... When the drop-down door is lowered, the top pops-up, the original light fixture which has been rewired for American circuit automatically illuminates and the entire bar service moves forward! The spacious bottom storage compartment is accessed via two double doors that can be locked with their original barrel key and includes three brass clips on the back of each door for retaining liquor bottles, is lined in flame mahogany, includes a center wooden shelf and provides ample room for plenty of bottles & barware. The actual London cabinet maker's white bakelite label is also still attached and proclaims... Rivington.
