Radiobars were aimed at the more affluent of the Depression years. Manufactured
by the Radiobar Corporation
of America in Los Angeles during the 1930's, they not only functioned as RCA or Philco Console Radios,
but they were constructed to look like a fine piece of walnut furniture and presented a novel
way to conceal your Cocktail Bar! Less than 10,000 were manufactured during the relatively short life
of the company, and working models (especially with original glassware) have become extremely rare! Radiobars
were also featured in a number of classic 1930's movies, such as: It's A Wonderful Life,
Angels With Dirty Faces, Gold Diggers and several others... See if
you can spot them when viewing these old flicks? To learn
more about the history of Radiobars, go to www.PhilcoRadio.com and search History,
then click on Radiobar.
