Rare Stationary 'Envelope Bar' of Superb Burl Walnut
English Art Deco Stationary Envelope Bar of
Superb Burl Walnut, Circa 1930's...
This most unusual 'fold-open' bar
features gorgeous European bookmatched crown-cut & burl walnut veneers over rich mahogany and a cedar backing
& bottom. ( What strange images do you see within these intriguing veneer patterns? ) Unlike
the typical portable envelope bars, this version rests stationary against a wall. ( Casters can be added if
you wish to make it portable. ) The top is hinged and folds open to reveal a stain-free formica top of
faux white marble that rests on two small door panels that swing-out from the sides for support. The bar service is
lined in the same rich ribbon mahogany, features a mirrored drop-down door with a spectacular Deco brass pull and original
reverse-painted striped mirrors on the bottom & drop-down door and a clear mirror on the back. The original
light fixture has been rewired for American circuit and illuminates via a push-button switch. The bottom storage area
is also lined in ribbon mahogany, provides ample room for plenty of bottles & barware, includes a nice wooden
shelf and is accesible via two double doors that can be locked with the original barrel key. Dimensions: (Closed) 27" Wide x 15 1/4" Deep x 41 1/4" Tall,
(Open) 53 1/4" Wide
