Portable 'Envelope Bar' of Spectacular Burl Walnut
English Art Deco Portable Envelope Bar of Spectacular Burl & Crown-Cut Walnut, Circa
1930's...
This spectacular portable 'fold-open' bar features gorgeous European
bookmatched burl & crown-cut walnut veneers over rich mahogany and folds outward to open & create a large
curved serving area. Note how the veneers flow from the top of the cabinet in a seamless manner and cascade down in
continuous & intriguing patterns. Incredible artisanship! The lockable front double-doors (original barrel
key provided) feature beautiful brass pulls and open to reveal a top bar service with wooden circular cutouts for various
bottles & glassware and a smaller wooden shelf below with slanted sides and circular cutouts for additional barware.
A small chrome bracket is mounted on each side of the top bar service (two total) and retains three original Bakelite martini
picks (six total). The bottom storage area features large wooden circular cutouts with brass rings for retaining liquor
& seltzer bottles. The back of each double-door holds an original chrome serving tray (two total), as well as a
stainless steel juicer (two total). There is no light fixture, but an aftermarker version can be added if you wish.
The top of the cocktail cabinet is hinged and folds open to reveal a fabulous stain-free formica top with a faux wood grain
finish that rests on two large door panels that swing-out from the sides for support. A glass portal is also located
in the center and allows for viewing into the bar service. The back of the cabinet features two large sliding
glass doors that allow quick access to the bar area. Four casters mounted on the bottom facilitate easy movement of
the entire cabinet.
